On track 8 (Gold Watch) of Lupe Fiasco’s second album “The Cool” he said: “I love Street Fighter II, I just really hate Zangief / Only Ken & Ryu, I find it hard to beat Blanka.” In that bar alone he showcased his love of video games, “Street Fighter II” especially. Well yesterday (2/16/16) gamer site Polygon.com posted a video of Lupe Fiasco facing off with Japanese “Street Fighter V” world champion Daigo Umehara. Polygon.com reports:
“Rapper Lupe Fiasco got his wish for a shot at world Street Fighter champion Daigo Umehara granted, and the two dueled yesterday at Street Fighter 5’s launch gala in San Francisco. Incredibly, Fiasco won, 3-2, but in the eyes of many this result is hardly final.”
Even though Lupe took the crown, he gave his competitor Daigo Umehara a custom 1 of 1 “Metal Gear Solid” jacket that he wore to the competition. Classy Lu, you represented for the Chi’ as always!
