B.O.B & Scotty ATL “Live & Direct” Mixtape Review 3/5

With B.o.B. being in the news lately for his scientific beliefs, people might have the tendency  to write him off as far as musical ventures (Don’t!!! tiller voice). He’s recently released a new collaboration mixtape with Scotty ATL called “Live & Direct”.  The Georgian emcees bring a consistency of B.o.B’s technical rhyming skills, and Scott ATL’s effortless flow over well sampled beats. This is a mixtape you can ride too and never have to change tracks. Standout tracks like “Where I Stay”, “Navigation”, and (meme worthy) “Like A shoe” keep this mixtape enjoyable. The track “Navigation” actually has two halves, the 2nd half comes in like a bonus track. The producers on this mixtape do their jobs well, as far as mixing soul samples with strip club 808’s. It doesn’t matter if your riding in the car, rocking headphones or playing 2K, you can enjoy this mixtape all the way through. I gave it a 3/5 initially because I felt like when listening to it straight through, you sometimes forgot it was even on. The one song that I didn’t think fit well with the rest was the bonus song “Fantasies”. Production wise it felt out of place. Overall, this project fell just an inch short of a 4, but I still would suggest you stash it.. -Brendan McNeill (@TheABots)
